报告摘要(Abstract): 报告 1：This talk presents the fundamental concepts and technical details in U-model based control (U-control in short) system design framework, including U-model realisation from classical model sets, control system design procedures, and simulated show case examples. Consequently, it provides readers a transparent understandings and able-to-use skills for their ad hoc research expansion and applications. Contrast to classical “model based design” and “model free design” methodologies, this “model independent design” takes two parallel formations, 1) designs an invariant virtual controller with specified closed loop transfer function in a feedback control loop, 2) determines real controller output by resolving the inverse of the plant U-model. It should be noted that 1) this U-control provides a universal platform in control system design for many existing line/nonlinear, polynomial/state space models, and 2) it is a complement to may existing design approaches.
In brief, this speech presents two linear approaches (NB not model linear approximation) --- enhanced leas squares and U-model to provide solutions for wide range smooth nonlinear dynamic system identification and controller design respectively.
The purpose of this speech is not only to introduce some fundamental techniques, but more importantly to show the speaker’s research insight/philosophy (principle of parsimony) in the challenging research and application domains. The later aspect is particularly suitable for PG students and new researchers. In addition, the speaker will use his sense of humour to link modelling/identification and control to many fields encountered almost in everyday life and work.
Quanmin Zhu is professor in control systems at the Department of Engineering Design and Mathematics, University of the West of England, Bristol, UK. He obtained his MSc in Harbin Institute of Technology, China in 1983 and PhD in Faculty of Engineering, University of Warwick, UK in 1989. His main research interest is in the area of nonlinear system modelling, identification, and control. He has published over 250 papers on these topics, edited five Springer books and one book for the other publisher, and provided consultancy to various industries. Currently Professor Zhu is acting as editor of International Journal of Modelling, Identification and Control, editor of International Journal of Computer Applications in Technology.
